Convert PNG to JPG

A photo saved as PNG is usually far bigger than it needs to be. Drop it here and get a JPG that’s smaller and opens anywhere. Nothing is uploaded.

WebP, PNG, AVIF and GIF. Transparent areas turn white. Nothing is uploaded.

When a PNG should be a JPG

PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it was. That’s perfect for screenshots, diagrams and logos with crisp edges, and wasteful for photographs, where the extra precision is invisible but the file is often several times the size. It’s why a PNG photo gets bounced by email or an upload form with a size limit.

Think twice about text

JPG is built for photographs. On a screenshot full of small text it can leave faint smudges around the letters. If your PNG is mostly words or flat colour, it may look better, and be just as small, left as it is.

How much smaller will it be?

For a photo, often several times smaller. For a simple graphic with a few flat colours, the difference is smaller, and the PNG may even win.

What happens to transparent areas?

They turn white, because a JPG can’t be see-through. That suits a logo going onto a white page. If you need the transparency, keep the PNG.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. On an iPhone the JPG lands in the Files app under Downloads. On Android it goes to your Downloads folder.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device, and the file never leaves it.
