WebP, PNG, AVIF and GIF. Transparent areas turn white. Nothing is uploaded.

Why so many images are WebP now

Websites like WebP because it’s smaller. Google, who made it, measured it at roughly a quarter to a third lighter than a JPG of the same quality, and that means faster pages. Every modern browser shows it without a second thought.

The trouble starts once the file is on your computer. Older photo apps, some print services and plenty of upload forms still don’t accept it, and that’s usually when people go looking for a converter.

What you get back

A JPG with the same number of pixels, saved at high quality. Several files at once come back together in one zip. An animated WebP becomes a still of its first frame.

Will I lose quality?

A tiny amount, as with any move from one compressed format to another. The JPG is saved at high quality, so you won’t see it unless you zoom right in.

What happens to transparent areas?

They turn white, because a JPG can’t be see-through. If you need the transparency, keep the WebP or use a PNG.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. On an iPhone the JPG lands in the Files app under Downloads. On Android it goes to your Downloads folder.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device, and the image never leaves it.
