What gets removed?
Everything except the picture: the GPS location, the date and time, the camera or phone model, lens and settings, editing software, and any thumbnail stored inside the file.
Does it change the photo?
No edits are made. The photo is saved again at the same size, as a high-quality JPEG, or as a PNG if it was one. Photos taken sideways come out the right way up.
Do apps not remove this already?
Many social apps strip location when you post. Files sent by email, as documents in a chat, through a cloud link or on a marketplace often keep everything.
